The DiMarzio ‘Area’ hum-cancelling pickups were designed to capture the vibe and feel of the greatest sounding vintage pickups DiMarzio engineers could get their hands on.  These pickups have a snappy, expressive dynamic response that jumps out of the amp when picked hard, and they clean up nicely when played lightly.  The highs are detailed and clear without sounding thin, and the Alnico II magnets have less pull on the strings than the original vintage pickups. A nice thing about them is that they are very sensitive to string height so you can raise your pickup closer to the strings for a more driving sound, or lower it for a cleaner tone.  And they have better hum-cancelation than a standard humbucker.
